Class Features, Levels 1-5

Level 1: Magical Scholar

You gain mastery level one with Arcanum. In addition your spellcasting attribute for the arcanum is Intellect.
Your study into the arcane is specialized by either you or your order. You must choose a primary doctrine from all available spell doctrines.
Your spells known is 8 from your primary doctrine, and 4 from other doctrines. Each time you level up, you may learn one spell from your primary doctrine, and one from outside of it.
You acquire magical knowledge through dedicated study and practice, as such your spells known can be added to by spending time and money to do so. There is no limit to how many spells you can know. Whenever you are learning new spells not within your primary doctrine, it takes you twice as long and costs twice as much.

Level 2: Ecclectic study

Your studies broaden and you may select a secondary doctrine. The same cost benefits apply to the secondary doctrine as they do to the primary.
Whenever you level up, you learn an additional spell from your secondary doctrine.

Level 3: Deeper Understanding

You forgo your weapon mastery increase to instead increase your arcanum mastery.
Your mana is increased by your initiate level.

Level 4: Ritual Casting

Your understanding of the formal elements of the arcane deepens to such a degree that 2/D you may cast a ritual spell from your primary doctrine without expending mana to do so.

Level 5: Deeper Understanding II

You gain an additional mastery level with arcanum.
1/D you may cast a ritual spell from your secondary doctrine without expending mana to do so.

Starting Equipment

  • Each weapon selected from your mastery selection
  • Rural or Urban survival kit
  • One armor of your choice that is cheap or standard price.

At level 6, your character may ascend into one of the advanced path classes below.
